Other than target practice?? LOL it's an older C610 that still locks up during a cold startup (on windows screen) even after a reinstall of windows 2000, windows updates, and drivers from dell...it restarts fine once you're in there, tho....was thinking a prog in startup is farqed up....another thing that irks me is that it didn't read that a modem ("other pci device") was there until early this morn....this is after tons of restarts due to updating....makes me wonder if it also wasn't dropped =P

All suggestions funny and serious are welcome...this could become a "101 things you can do w/a dell latitude" thread!!!!!

Ugh I think the modem's toast...win won't pick it up, then all of a sudden it will...when i can finally get it under the modem setup it will either show that it doesn't know where its hooked up, or that it's not functioning. (And it's physically hooked up) Doesn't help that it looks like my friend's daughter (who this tiny lil laptop belongs to..I <3 my Alienware) dropped it....well if she doesn't use dialup she's got nothing to worry about LOL

Also wondering if that's the reason for the lockups...startup's trying to look for something that can't decide if it wants to be there or not.

Wireless isn't liking me either....gets a radio signal but good luck on the online stuff...I gotta be missing something...other than caffeine....

Everything else is fine. And I'm either insane, or I have the patience of a GODDESS!!!

Thank you for letting me vent....if this keeps up I'll tell her to use it for a foot warmer..or a paperweight...hmm a frisbee...
